Just in time for Easter...

It all started because Jeff (my hubby) had been spending a lot of time prepping for the various Easter-related celebrations this week… he was in a Drama, he'll be playing Trombone for our service tomorrow… so yesterday (or perhaps the day before, I'm not sure) he came up with a rough idea for a piece & this is what it became...

The Empty Tomb…

An Angel sits atop an empty tomb with the stone rolled away…  Sterling Silver, the stone at the tomb is a Brioche Agate, the tomb was made with a piece of medium-weight half-round wire, the earrings are Red Creek Jasper - a couple that were close in color to my agate.

The Agate is a particularly thick stone, so I couldn't set it in the normal fashion - my bezel wire was not wide enough. So I created a little frame on the back that wraps slightly around the sides of the stone, and soldered the frame to the bezel - a little tricky but it worked out well.

Playful Hearts - Encircled by Love

Another piece using hearts of torch-fired enamel on Copper, this time in pink… I call this piece "Encircled by Love" because it makes me think of a hug, or of being surrounded by loved ones…

The circle is made from a medium-weight piece of 1/2 Round wire (you're seeing it from the side), with the curved edge to the outside.  The chain is an infinity or figure-8 style…  Everything except the hearts is Sterling Silver.

Playful Hearts - A Picture of Love

Simple, clean lines, but cheerful & sweet… this is a piece that is certain to please… I call this "A Picture of Love"….

Hearts of torch-fired enamel on copper, the rest is Sterling Silver. The frame for the pendant was made with flat (rectangular) sterling silver wire, the chain is a dapped-bar style.

I made these torch fired enamel hearts… and I'm loving the colors!!  The picture above shows the pendant pieces (before being cleaned up)...

This picture shows two of the pendant pieces after being cleaned up, and now they have matching earring pieces (also made & cleaned today)…  I have some ideas I've been playing with that I want to do with these pieces, at this point these are just "parts"… I'll put up pictures of the completed sets when they're available.

It's Coming Soon!!

It's Coming!!  It's Coming!!  The American Craft Council Show is coming!!

If you live in the Twin Cities area & you love to see beautiful & interesting artwork of various forms you've got to check out this show!!

Last year I dragged Jeff there… and once we got there he loved it!!  Lots of amazing woodwork & pottery & art of all sorts, and amazing jewelry (of course).

This year my instructor, Kirk Sklar of Metal Heart Jewelry (see more of his jewelry here), is one of the featured local artisans - this is a huge honor for him to be a part of this show & one that is much deserved.

No pretty pictures this time...

I've been busy but have no pretty pictures to show this time…

I've been getting some of the financial pieces of my baby business set up...

I've set up a Facebook page for the studio… but there's not much out there yet...
    https://www.facebook.com/ArtfulRompStudio

I've been doing some torch-fired enamel, but fighting it this time - I'm still a bit new at this & sometimes things just don't go how I'd like...

I've been prepping some pages on this blog on which to show & provide pricing info for some of the pieces that are ready to sell…

So, no pretty pictures… bummer… perhaps in a couple days…

Wisps of Spring...

Update: this set is for sale, click here to find out how to purchase.

One more in the Flores Encantadoras collection before I move on to other things, this one is "Wisps of Spring"…

Wisps of Spring - Sterling Silver and Amazonite

This lovely bloom is made from Sterling Silver, with an Amazonite stone bead.  I used Filigree, so this piece was a bit labor intensive, some simple filigree earrings were made to agree with the main bloom.  Whoops!! my picture has a twist in the chain (oops), but that happens to all of us from time to time.

Wisps of Spring - closeup
It took a while for me to name this one, for some reason it gave me trouble… all along I thought of it as "Wispy", but the stone of the bead is so unusual that I had trouble finishing the name.  Ok, so about the color of the stone: its a very green aqua color with whitish markings, Amazonite is quite a unique looking stone.
